Pratt Pop-Up Drop-Off Pavilion

The Pop-Up was created in collaboration with students from the d.r.a. Lab at Pratt Institute. It was conceived as an easy-to-deploy mobile plastic film recycling drop-off point. The Pop-Up is comprised of a patchwork of scrap waste-materials. Installed in Times Square, its distinct and colorful appearance was designed to draw people into a dialogue about the problem of plastic films waste in New York City. The Pop-Up’s double saddle shape is composed of patterned, concentric square tubes whose concave spaces act as collection areas, while the convex sides form the structure’s roof.
